Atlanta Real Estate Forum congratulates Rob Meyers with Colonnade Homes for being named the Greater Atlanta HBA’s 2016 Builder of the Year at this year’s OBIE Awards. Presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, the OBIE Awards are the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.

If you have been active in Atlanta’s home building industry for any length of time, then you’ve probably crossed paths with this year’s Builder of the Year! He has been building in Atlanta for over 30 years and has been actively investing his energy to making the industry better throughout his career.

He is a Life Director on the HBA Board of Directors and has served as the HBA North Fulton Chapter President. He continues to be a passionate advocate for issues that challenge the housing industry like permitting processes and impact fees. He has been an active member of the HBA Builder Resource Fund, the HBA Governmental Affairs Committee and the HBA Membership Committee. Most importantly, he is a past President of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.

His homes have been featured in publications like the Atlanta Journal-Construction, Jezebel and the Builder’s Rewards magazine.

This builder is a student of his industry and invests in new technology to provide the best homes to his clients. In the effort to build better homes, all the homes built by his company have been built under energy efficiency programs like Energy Star or EarthCraft House.

He is also known for giving back to the community. This year, he combined his 60th birthday with the HomeAid Essentials Drive, encouraging his guests to bring donations in lieu of gifts. He also has been an active participant in the Hands Across Atlanta through which he personally gives out food, water and clothing to homeless members of our community.

This year’s winner is supported by his family who are an essential part of his work and his life. His son Tyler and daughter-in-law Corinne work with him at Colonnade. He is also supported by his loving wife Phyllis, his son Lee and Lee’s wife, Kayla. However, the real heavy lifting is done by his first grandson Bennet, who is just now six months old.

The HBA is proud to recognize Rob Myers as the 2016 Builder of the Year.

Presented annually, the Builder of the Year award is given to a member that has demonstrated their commitment to professional excellence. In addition, the award recognizes them for their contributions to furthering the goals and mission of the HBA through volunteer efforts within the association and the housing industry, as well as community and charitable service.

The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s OBIE Awards celebrates its 36th anniversary in 2016. The awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to include more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories. The OBIE Awards are named after the obelisk shape of the actual award given. To see all of this year’s OBIE award winners, visit www.AtlantaRealEstateForum.com/OBIEs.
