After being named Builder of the year at the 2015 OBIE Awards, Dennis McConnell, President of Healthy House of Georgia, tells Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio how honored he is to have received such a prestigious award. Dennis has been building in Atlanta for more than 43 years and has been actively investing his energy into making the industry better throughout his career.

The Builder of the Year award is presented annually to a member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) who has demonstrated their commitment to professional excellence. This award recognizes a builder for their contributions to furthering the goals and mission of the GAHBA through volunteer efforts within the association and the housing industry, as well as community and charitable service.

Dennis notes how “humbling” it is to be named the 2015 Builder of the Year, as well as how thankful he is for his whole team at Healthy House of Georgia.

All homes built by Healthy House of Georgia have been built under energy efficiency programs like ENERGY STAR®, Environments for Living, GoodCents, EnergyWise, Energy Watt Count or EarthCraft House.  He is currently building American Lung Association “Health Homes” certified as allergen-free homes.

Dennis was a founding board member for the HBA’s Green Building Council and served on the HBA’s Green Building Council Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011. In 2004, he was named the EarthCraft Custom Builder of the Year. In 2005, he also won the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Exceptional Merit Award for Context Sensitive Neighborhood Infill Design for the Lampkin Street Cottages. This year the GAHBA is proud to recognize Dennis McConnell as the 2015 Builder of the Year.

The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s OBIE Awards celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2015. The awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to include more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories.
