With fall suddenly approaching, it is once again time for the annual Georgia Apple Festival. This will be the 44th year celebrating the fall tradition and the festivities will take place at the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds. The festival will be held over two weekends, October 10 and 11 and October 17 and 18. On Saturdays, the festival will open from 9am until 6pm and Sunday hours are 9am until 5pm. Admissions is $5 for adults and children 10 and under get in free. This is a great event for all ages, and a fun time for the family!

Festival goers will enjoy more than 300 vendors selling handmade, hand-crafted items and there will also be many on-site demonstrations of how selected types of crafts are made.. The Apple Festival isn’t the only thing happening in Ellijay, visitors can also check out a parade on October 17 that begins at 10 am in historic downtown Ellijay. There will also be an antique car show at the Gilmer Civic Center on October 10.

Another fun part of attending the Georgia Apple Festival is checking out the local orchards in Ellijay. Home to a variety of family owned apple orchards, there is always a great variety of apples to enjoy including popular favorites such as, Red Delicious and Granny Smith. Orchards in Ellijay also feature homemade products like fudge, apple cider, apple butter and apple pies! With more than 12 different apples and several ways to enjoy them, visitors are sure to have a delicious and enjoyable experience.

After enjoying the apples and beautiful scenery at the Georgia Apple Festival, check out downtown Ellijay and enjoy the historic architecture, shops and restaurants.
