The Georgia Aquarium’s Sips Under the Sea event is featured on this week’s Around Atlanta edition on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Kristie Ray, the aquarium’s director of marketing and promotions, is on hand to discuss the event, which has quickly become one of the most popular offered by the aquarium!

In its ninth year, the Georgia Aquarium is always adding something new and exciting, ensuring the attraction never gets old for repeat visitors. Located in downtown next to Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coke and the College Football Hall of Fame, the Georgia Aquarium is one of the world’s largest with more than 10 million gallons of water housed in six exhibits. Showcasing animals from all over the world, it is the only place you can see both whale sharks and manta rays together in one location.

In addition to its regular events and programs, the Georgia Aquarium hosts many special events, with some even taking place after hours. One of the most popular events is Sips Under the Sea, a cocktail event for guests 21 and over. This event allows guests to enjoy the aquarium without kids while food and cocktails are served and live music is played.

Each event is themed, and the next one takes place tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 13 with a special Valentine’s Day theme. Perfect for a date night or a fun girl’s night out, the event allows participants to get up close to exhibits and participate in ways you may not be able to on a busy Saturday afternoon. In addition, attendees can enjoy music from Wesley Cook and etch their own martini glass with the Sips Under the Seas logo.

Friday’s Sips Under the Sea event will take place from 6 until 9 p.m., and only a limited number of tickets are available for purchase as the aquarium desires to keep the event small and intimate. Tickets will only be on sale until noon on Friday, or until they’re sold out. General admission tickets are $21.95 per person, and VIP tickets are $46.95, which includes two drinks and two tapas plates. Member entry is free, and they can upgrade to VIP for $24.95. F

No matter when you choose to visit the Georgia Aquarium, you’re going to have a fantastic, memory-making experience. How

ever, one of the most unique things to do at the aquarium is participate in the Animal Encounters program. These programs offer an incredible way to get up close and personal with the animals during five different encounters. Two of the programs are immersion experiences that allow you to get into the water and interact with the animals. The Journey with Gentle Giants program is for those who are scuba certified, and it allows you to swim with the whale sharks and manta rays. You can also enjoy the Beluga and Friends Interactive program, which allows you to don a wet suit and work alongside trainers while interacting with the belugas. In addition to these immersion experiences, guests can enjoy three encounter programs that take place on dry land with the penguins, dolphins or sea otters.

The Georgia Aquarium is located at 225 Baker St. in Atlanta. Parking is available in the aquarium deck located at 357 Luckie St. in Atlanta. The aquarium is open 365 days a year, and regular hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday.
