The new Braves stadium under construction in Cobb County is already spurring development in the Cumberland-Galleria region, with the most recent project being a new mixed-use development. Consisting of apartments, retail space and hotels, the $100 million mixed-use project is being billed as Stadium Walk.

The new development will not be connected to SunTrust Park; instead, it will sit on 13 acres north of the new stadium along Circle 75 Parkway. Developer MCP-Ackerman Corporate Forum LLC plans to demolish the current Corporate Forum office complex on the site, but the timetable will depend on the expiration of existing leases. The Cobb Planning Commission approved rezoning for Stadium Walk this week, but the project must still receive final approval from the Cobb Board of Commissioners.

The new Stadium Walk development will include a five-story apartment building that will offer 392 units that range from 700 to 1,500 square feet and are priced from $1,200 per month. Also included will be two buildings comprised of 80,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, two eight-story hotels with a combined 290 guest rooms and an eight-story parking deck.

Currently, no retailers, restaurants or hotel brands have been named. However, the developer did state that the hotels will not be extended-stay hotels.

In addition to new developments, current businesses have announced plans to spruce up existining properties in anticipation of an influx of visitors. Last week, the owners of the Doubletree Suites by Hilton, which is located adjacent to the site of the new stadium, announced that the hotel will undergo a $6 million renovation that is expected to be complete by 2017.
