The second guest on this week’s show is Chris Martin with Nortiz, the largest manufacturer of tankless water heaters in the world. Tankless water heaters are an environmentally-friendly, cost effective alternative to traditional tank water heaters. And best of all, they provide endless amounts of hot water for users.
Tankless water heaters work by heating the water on demand instead of constantly keeping water hot like a regular tank heater, thereby saving a significant amount of energy over time. Tankless water heaters are, on average, 85 to 95 percent efficient, while a tank heater is only about 60 percent efficient. This means that tankless heaters use less natural gas, which provides homeowners with an additional savings. In addition, all of the parts and pieces inside a Nortiz unit are recyclable, and many of them are manufactured with a low impact to the environment.
While tankless water heaters can cost up to twice as much as a regular tank heater, it’s clear that they provide a significant savings over time. The new units from Nortiz also make installation much easier than before, so costs have fallen. As an additional benefit, many rebates and tax credits are available for homeowners who choose to use a tankless heater. Some gas companies will give homeowners as much as a $500 rebate, which makes up for the cost difference in purchasing the more expensive product.
