Nothing puts you more in the spirit of the season than visiting a pumpkin patch, where the only thing more beautiful than the fall foliage is the sea of orange from hundreds of pumpkins. The metro Atlanta area has dozens of pumpkin patches to choose from, but we have highlighted our favorites just for you.
Burt’s Farm, located in Dawsonville in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains, is the perfect place for a one-day fall vacation. They have thousands of pumpkins ranging in size from miniature to an eye-popping 150 pounds. You can also take a hayride that affords you awe-inspiring views of Amicalola Falls and visit the barn store for Burt’s fresh baked goodies and farm decorations. Burt’s Farm is open on weekends from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., and tickets for the hayride are $5 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under.
At Pumpkin Patch Farm in Adairsville, you will find more than just pumpkins. There are also gourds, Indian corn, straw, corn stalks, gifts and much more. You can also take a hayride that winds along Oothcalooga Creek and through the pumpkin fields. Children will enjoy meeting barnyard critters, playing games and having their face painted. The Pumpkin Patch is open Saturdays and Sundays in October from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Located on more than 36 acres of beautiful countryside in Newnan, Uncle Bob’s Pumpkin Patch offers a fun-filled day of adventure on the farm. Visitors to the pumpkin patch will also enjoy a hayride, petting zoo, live shows, education stations and many more activities. Uncle Bob’s is open on Fridays and Sundays from 1:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. through Nov. 10. General admission tickets are $16 for ages three and up.
The annual pumpkin patch at Scottsdale Farms in Alpharetta is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. In addition to the pumpkins scattered around the patch, the Barn at Scottsdale Farm is stocked with all of your fall decorating and planting needs. There will also be hay rides and face painting in the patch during the final two weekends in October.
Located in Gainesville, Kinsey Family Farm offers thousands of pumpkins of every shape, size and color, including pumpkins perfect for making holiday pumpkin pies. In addition to the pumpkins, visitors to the farm can take a scenic hayride, bring a picnic lunch and relax on the farm, see seasonal crops, visit barn animals, feed the fish and purchase goodies in the fall harvest shop. The farm is open every day in October, with hours being Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Join Pettit Creek Farms in Cartersville for their annual Pumpkin Fest, where you can enjoy a corn maze, petting zoo, moonwalks and hayrides in addition to picking the perfect pumpkin out of the patch. Pettit Creek Farms is open weekdays from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $12 for children and children under 2 are free.
At Berry Patch Farms, located in Woodstock, you can enjoy all kinds of fall goodies, including apple cider, homemade friend pies, boiled peanuts and popcorn. While you’re there, make sure to take the hayride to the pumpkin patch, and don’t forget to see the baby farm animals and play on the children’s playground. Berry Patch Farms is open weekdays from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
At Cumming’s own Warbington Farms, Pumpkin Palooza is going on every Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 until 6 p.m. in October. Not only will you be able to select your favorite pumpkin, but the whole family can enjoy a hayride, petting zoo, inflatables, bounce houses and obstacle course.
The popular Yule Forest in Stockbridge is filled with not only family fun but learning opportunities as well! In addition to the pumpkin patch, hayride, fun zone, train rides, pony rides and horse races, you will also find an outdoor classroom, a nature mural trail and a science center with live reptiles. Yule Forest is open Monday through Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person.
