Moving from the hustle and bustle of New York to the blissful hills of Soleil Laurel Canyon was an easy decision for best friends, Bill Pfaeffle and Bill Schuck. They had, after all, many adventures together exploring new terrain as professionals, fathers, friends and automobile restoration experts.

In the early 1970’s Pfaeffle and Schuck had become good friends by trading each other’s expertise in their respective households to save their families money and to benefit from each other’s knowledge.  The friendship grew over the years of raising children and enjoying life.  A neighbor had a classic 1926 Whippet New York Taxi that had fallen into disrepair, and needed the dynamic duo’s services to restore it.

Rebuilding the taxi ended up acting as the engine that fed their friendship and desire to spend their lives together. Their bond became so strong that when Schuck and his wife retired to Georgia and chose Soleil Laurel Canyon, Pfaeffle and his wife had no choice but to follow soon thereafter.

Though the cab is almost complete, Pfaeffle and Schuck’s lives have just begun at Soleil. The dynamic duo is thankful that the project is coming to an end as their families often have “too much to do” at the active adult community. Pfaeffle and Schuck are active members of the Veterans and Optimists Clubs and take full advantage of the community’s limitless amenities. “Whether you want to play golf, take an afternoon swim, socialize at a block party or play bridge Soleil has it all,” commented Schuck, “you can’t beat what you get here.”
