The lights are strung and the presents are wrapped; now it’s time to celebrate! If your family needs something festive to do on Christmas Eve, Atlanta has tons of fun events. From holiday lights to ice skating, the city has something the whole family will enjoy.

Visit the Festival of Trees at The Embassy Suites Atlanta. The event showcases 30 Christmas trees that have been decorated in a contest for charities.

Then, take a tour around the world at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s Winter Wonderland: Celebrations and Traditions Around the World exhibit. Celebrate holidays, traditions and cultures at this exhibit featuring decorated trees, craft demonstrations, storytelling and more!

See the play, A Christmas Carol, at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Alliance Theatre at 2:30 p.m. Journey through the beloved Dickens tale of Ebenezer Scrooge’s discovery of the true meaning of Christmas. For tickets, call 404-733-5000.

Afterwards, enjoy a 90-minute ice skating session in Centennial Olympic Park. As Downtown Atlanta’s only outdoor skating rink, it is sure to become your family’s new tradition. Admission is $7 and skate rental is $2.

If tomorrow’s baked goodies and roasted turkeys are filling up the kitchen, take the family out to dinner at Spice Market, located inside the W Atlanta-Midtown.
