Did you know that 50 million Christmas trees are purchased in the U.S. each year? Of those, about 30 million go to the landfill. This year, go green by recycling your tree during the The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation’s event “Bring One for the Chipper.”  Trees will be chipped into mulch or used as a wildlife habitat. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click on the link above to find a drop off zone near you!

The event educates the public on recycling and environmental conservation. It also allows communities to put discarded Christmas trees to good use. The program has been a holiday tradition in Georgia for 20 years and is the largest tree recycling program in the nation.  In fact, “Bring One for the Chipper” has recycled an estimated five million Christmas trees!

Residents at Waterford Commons, in Sandtown’s desirable 30331 zip code, are excited about this event and many are planning to participate. The community features homes from the $190,000s. Some features include three-car garages, faux-cast stone fireplace mantels, barrel arched passageways and extra wide stairways, hallways and doors. Waterford Commons has amenities for the whole family including 100 acres of greenspace, sidewalks throughout, a clubhouse, junior Olympic pool, tennis courts and a playground. The community has quick access to the new shops and restaurants in Camp Creek Marketplace and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
