Atlanta Real Estate Forum Announces October Radio Lineup

Haley Livingston with HomeAid Atlanta is our first guest this week’s special Thanksgiving edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio.  Haley is the program manager for HomeAid Atlanta, the designated charity for the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. HomeAid’s mission is to build and maintain dignified housing for homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives.

HomeAid Atlanta recently completed its first environmentally sustainability project.  This is a national project and HomeAid Atlanta had the first completed project in the country.  This energy efficiency retrofit was done on a home in Decatur operated by Decatur Cooperative Ministry. They provide transitional housing to families in the Decatur area. HomeAid added airsealing, insulation and new appliances and anticipates that these updates will save them about 40-percent on their energy bills. This is money that they can now spend on client services.

HomeAid has a lot of participants who give back from builders, plumbers, building suppliers and others in the industry. Many people find it surprising to learn that women and children make up the majority of Atlanta’s homeless population. Transitional housing really helps them to get back on their feet, get a job and move on to their own apartment.

If you are interested in giving back, here are some ways to contact and interact with HomeAid Atlanta:
