Friday’s issue of the Atlanta Business Chronicle contained a story about builders using social media to succeed in the current Atlanta real estate market. “Builders drum up business using social media,” featured Atlanta Real Estate Forum’s own Carol Flammer.

Flammer, president of Flammer Relations, Inc. a social media and public relations firm, is the author of BuilderBooks 2010 top selling book, “Social Media for Home Builders: It’s Easier Than You Think.” She emphasizes that social media is an essential component of a builder’s marketing campaign. “It really becomes the hub of online and offline marketing,” Flammer said.

Flammer gave five goals for any home builder’s social media plan:

  • Increase website traffic
  • Reputation management: “When you Google your name, do you like what you see?”
  • Build a cohesive brand
  • Build awareness with various audiences
  • Social media optimization

The article highlighted the social media campaign of Greater Valley Group, a West Point, Ga., developer that consulted with Flammer for its social media program. The company is using social media to connect with key audiences online, such as home buyers, chamber of commerce members and real estate agents. Traffic to the company’s website has increased 60 percent since its social media program’s inception.
