The Georgia Residential Land Development Council (GRLDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Masaschi, east region president of Forestar Group, Inc., to its Board of Directors.
Masaschi leads real estate investment, land development and entitlement strategy across the Southeast for Forestar, one of the nation’s largest single-family land developers. In his role, he oversees the identification, underwriting and execution of residential land opportunities while working with municipalities, builders, brokers and development teams to bring new communities from concept to completion.
“Eric’s experience leading large-scale residential development throughout the Southeast brings tremendous value to our organization,” said Jay Knight, chairman and co-founder of GRLDC. “He understands firsthand the regulatory and infrastructure challenges affecting housing affordability, and he shares GRLDC’s commitment to advancing practical solutions that benefit both the industry and Georgia homebuyers.”
Masaschi became involved with GRLDC because of the organization’s proactive, results-oriented approach to addressing housing challenges.
“I believe in the leadership at GRLDC and appreciate how focused the organization is on delivering meaningful results,” said Masaschi. “We, as homebuilders and developers, are committed to finding ways to make housing more affordable and increase housing supply, but we need legislators to do their part by removing unnecessary barriers that drive up costs.”
Among the issues Masaschi believes deserve continued attention are zoning restrictions, increasing development requirements and approval delays, all of which contribute to higher housing costs.
He also pointed to the organization’s successful advocacy for Senate Bill 447 as one of GRLDC’s proudest accomplishments.
“The permitting reforms achieved through SB 447 are an important step forward,” Masaschi said. “Now it’s time to build on that momentum through Final Plat Reform, which has the potential to eliminate unnecessary delays that add thousands of dollars to the cost of new homes.”
GRLDC is currently advancing Final Plat Reform as its next legislative initiative, seeking to standardize approval timelines, modernize bonding requirements and reduce unnecessary administrative delays that increase housing costs across Georgia.
