Fall is a great time to explore Atlanta, and one of the city’s most unique traditions is returning to Historic Oakland Cemetery. Sunday in the Park ft. Sunday in the Park offers plenty to see and do throughout the afternoon and evening. Attendees can enjoy live music, including performances on the main stage and at Oakland’s historic mausoleum spaces. The festival also features guided tours and living history performances that bring the stories of Oakland Cemetery’s residents to life. Visitors can browse an artist market featuring handmade goods from Atlanta makers, grab a bite from local food trucks and participate in a costume contest with categories ranging from Victorian and steampunk to goth and other Oakland-inspired looks.
Families can also enjoy children’s activities, including storytelling, music-making and crafts. An Oakland Store pop-up will offer exclusive event merchandise.
For those looking to make a full day of it, the festival’s general admission includes access to all activities. A premium admission option also includes beverages, commemorative merchandise and access to the Bell Tower lounge.
A Unique Atlanta History Experience
Oakland Cemetery is more than a cemetery. Located near downtown Atlanta, the 48-acre historic site is an outdoor museum that tells the story of the city through its residents, monuments, gardens and architecture.
Sunday in the Park draws on that history while creating an atmosphere that feels more like a neighborhood festival than a traditional historic-site visit. The event’s origins date to 1978, when the first Sunday in the Park was held at Oakland Cemetery. In 2021, the festival merged with Tunes from the Tombs, creating the larger fall event held today.
That combination of Atlanta history, live entertainment and outdoor recreation makes Sunday in the Park a distinctive way to experience one of the city’s most recognizable historic destinations.

Historic Oakland Foundation members receive $5 off each ticket. A 10-ticket bundle is also available for $100. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation, bikes or rideshare. King Memorial MARTA Station is about a 7- to 10-minute walk from Oakland Cemetery’s main gate, while street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is limited. Sunday in the Park is a rain-or-shine event. Because Oakland Cemetery is a permitted event site within a City of Atlanta park, pets are not permitted except for service animals. Outside food and drinks and smoking are also prohibited.
