The Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council congratulates Pulte Homes for winning a Gold OBIE in the community service category for Aimee’s Wing. The OBIE awards are the premier awards in the new home construction industry.

Pulte, along with their local trade partners, stepped up to help renovate Aimee Copeland’s home to make it handicap accessible after her accident last summer. Called “Aimee’s Wing,” the almost 2,000 square foot two-story addition included a bedroom suite; Pulte Planning Center, her primary study area when she continues her Master’s studies in psychology, and a fitness room to aid in her rehabilitation. An elevator was added to make the two-story space easy for her to navigate to other spaces in her home.

In a matter of days after the first call came in to help Aimee, Pulte was able to pull the necessary resources together to help. This included more than 30 trade partners who donated their time and materials to ensure that the home was completed (within 38 days) before Aimee returned home for her rehabilitation.

Pulte and its trade partners paid through the entire retrofit through various trade donations. Pulte’s Atlanta division embraced the spirit of giving to help improve the quality of life for Aimee. Pulte Corporation also donated money to assist in her rehabilitation. That was a combined effort of individual corporate employee donations and matching corporate funds totaling $6,000.

The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s OBIE Awards celebrates its 33rd anniversary in 2013. The awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to now feature more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories. The OBIE Awards, named after the obelisk shape of the actual award given, are the premier awards in of Atlanta’s residential building industry.
