Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch is today’s Around Atlanta guest on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Owner Mike Pinzl tells how his search to find a pumpkin patch for his family to visit led to the creation of Uncle Shuck’s 13 years ago!

Today, the most popular attraction at Uncle Shuck’s is the corn maze, which includes 12 acres of corn, five miles of paths and a total of three mazes. In the two main mazes, guests are encouraged to find six checkpoints hidden throughout the path. The third maze, known as the maze of knowledge, includes fun facts about corn along the way!

Perhaps even more mind-boggling than navigating the maze itself is trying to figure out how Uncle Shuck’s is able create such elaborate maze designs. This year’s maze is a tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Georgia, complete with a logo, two soldiers and a canon. To create the maze, Uncle Shuck’s first plants corn in a checkerboard pattern ensuring a thick crop. Then, working with MazePlay, a unique corn maze design is created. Finally, the maze is created in the corn using a line drawing map and a small tractor pulling a rotor tiller. Five hours later, the complete creation can clearly be seen from the sky!

During the final weeks of October, visitors can also enjoy The Dark Rows, Uncle Shuck’s haunted corn maze. This separate trail is full of frights for visitors to enjoy by the light of the moon on Friday and Saturday nights during the month of October.

In addition to the corn maze, visitors to Uncle Shuck’s can enjoy a pumpkin patch, face painting, pony rides, goats, a tire mountain and a soybean maze for tiny tots. Uncle Shuck’s is also home to a food tent filled with fun festival foods, such as deep friend Oreos, chocolate covered bananas, funnel cakes and caramel apples.

Now through the third week of November, guests can take a nighttime hayride complete with a bonfire and marshmallow roast! The hayride is also open during the day, and it includes a scenic trip along the banks of the Etowah River.

Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch is located at 4520 Highway 53 East in Dawsonville, just a short trip up GA 400 North pass the North Georgia Premium Outlets. Visitors can head to Uncle Shuck’s Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. In addition, Uncle Shuck’s will be open the first three weekends in November.
