Top 25 Atlanta Home Builders as Ranked by John Burns Research and Consulting

The long-awaited Atlanta Top 25 Home Builders for 2025 list is now out. John Burns Research and Consulting ran the numbers and the list includes Atlanta home builders ranked by the number of homes closed in 2025 in the metro Atlanta real estate market. Note that these rankings do not include build-to-rent homes and only represent owner-occupied sales in 2025. Jackson and Hall Counties are not included in this report. 

D.R. Horton Inc. again tops the list, followed by Ashton Woods at No. 2, and Smith Douglas Homes moves up to No. 3. This year, the top 14 home builders are national companies. A number of large privately held companies, including Rockhaven Homes, Direct Residential, Traton Homes, Piedmont Residential and Rocklyn Homes, are also on the list.

“Atlanta’s new-home market is moving at a more deliberate pace after several years of outsized growth,” said Cara Lavender, senior research manager with John Burns Research and Consulting. “Builders are adjusting pricing and incentives, and that reset is helping demand re-engage at the right price points. The market is heading into 2026 on firmer footing after a choppy 2025.”

Lavender adds, “Incentives and pricing adjustments will likely remain part of the toolkit in 2026, even as vertical construction costs continue to ease. The bigger constraint remains land—lot availability, pricing and ongoing municipal delays and requirements continue to add cost and complexity for builders.”
