It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As streetscapes are dressed in wreaths and ribbons and temperatures are so cold you can see your breathe, the Marietta Square becomes a Winter Wonderland of family fun and activities. There is always something festive and fun at the Marietta Square, making life in or near the City of Marietta exuberant.

The Marietta Square Winter Wonderland has commenced as of November 20. Within this nostalgic seasonal area, visitors will find open-air ice skating, Santa’s Workshop, a multi-story Christmas tree and much more.

For the first time in Marietta Square history, Glover Park will become an open-air ice skating rink! Children aged one to 100 are encouraged to enjoy an excursion on the ice with friends and family. As they glide across this frozen funland, patrons will enjoy twinkling lights and holiday music. Open daily, the ice-skating rink accommodates all schedules. Skating hours are as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Fridays from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sundays from Noon to 10 p.m.

Skate across the frozen park and on over to Santa’s Workshop! Yes, that’s correct; Santa Claus is coming to Marietta Square. On Thursday, December 3, local school choruses will perform starting at 5 p.m. Santa will arrive at 5:20 p.m., and the Christmas tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m. Additionally, children will have the chance to make their own toy at Santa’s Workshop sponsored by The Home Depot.

To ring in the New Year, Marietta Square will have two celebrations. During the day, families can enjoy live music on the Bandstand in Glover Park, ice sculpting and family festivities throughout the day wending with a special Children’s Ball Drop at 7 p.m.  Adults can enjoy a Midnight Square Drop in the heart of The Marietta Square where local restaurants and venues will stay open late with live entertainment continuing throughout the night.
