The Waiters' Race

Do you have the hospitality skills it takes to race the streets of Atlanta while holding a loaded tray? If so, The Industry Fund is bringing back the 2nd annual Waiters’ Race, and you’re invited! Manager of Le Bilboquet, Founder of The Industry Fund and organizer of The Waiters’ Race, Rainer Shaw joins us on today’s Around Atlanta episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to discuss this unique event.

The Waiters’ Race is a century old French tradition that started in Paris to support and bring awareness to an industry that was struggling at the time. The concept of the race is simple; waiters must race as fast as possible holding a loaded tray without spilling its contents. The best server owns bragging rights for the entire year, a traveling trophy and best of all, a round-trip ticket to Paris. Participants in this fun race will be judged on speed, service and style.

As an 18-year old veteran of the hospitality industry, Shaw knows the perks and struggles of everyone who has a heart for serving. As the organizer of The Waiters’ Race and founder of The Industry Fund, Shaw is dedicated to helping the hospitality industry. The Waiters’ Race offers more than trophies and trips, it also brings awareness to the industry and the people who choose to serve every day. Participants and attendees will all have the opportunity to donate to The Giving Kitchen, an organization that provided crisis grants to those in the industry. To this day, The Giving Kitchen has given $1,500 in grants, totaling over 1 million dollars to servers in need.

The Giving Kitchen is an amazing organization who partners with Shaw’s non-profit, The Industry Fund. The Industry Fund is in its infant stages of life with a mission similar to The Giving Kitchen – to help serve you when you can’t serve others. The Industry Fund focuses more on the entire hospitality industry such as hotel, bars and nightclub employees rather than just restaurant workers. While The Industry Fund is filling in the gaps for The Giving Kitchen, once they become more established they plan to provide crisis grants as well.

If you’re one of the many hard-working hospitality employees in metro Atlanta, we want to see you July 15, 2018, at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta. The race begins at 5 p.m. but from 3 p.m. until 7, a southern street festival will take place with a live band, free samples, activities and shopping incentives! For more information on the race and the amazing organizations sponsoring the event, tune into today’s episode linked above.
