Company focused on sustainable, healthy design has successful Design and Construction Week

Atlanta-based Wellness Within Your Walls® and its founder, Jillian Pritchard Cooke, experienced a successful Design and Construction Week, the residential building and design industry’s largest annual gathering. Held January 21 to 23, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cooke taught two educational sessions, presented multiple awards related to healthy living and innovation, gained a new company sponsor and announced the first WWYW-certified home.

“We are so proud of the opportunities we had during Design and Construction Week 2020, which combines the International Builders’ Show and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Showcase in Las Vegas,” said Cooke. “Our company made great strides in promoting the benefit of healthy living beyond the construction process, while also growing recognition for our certification program.”

Wellness Within Your Walls’ mission is to connect designers, homeowners and builders with healthy, eco-sensitive products and strategies that result in beautiful, sustainable and non-toxic living environments. WWYW’s 10-step holistic approach, known as the Healthy Living System™, results in a legacy of health, harmony and sustainability inside a homeowner’s residence.

WWYW offers a certification program for people, places, products and programs. The certification program connects consumers with companies and products searching for a healthier living environment, and provides both a tremendous knowledge base and clear, marketable differentiation once certified. WWYW was proud to present the first Wellness Within Your Walls Certified Home last week in Las Vegas. This home focuses on a holistic design approach and low toxin interiors. The Chōwa Living in Balance House by Woodside Homes, chosen as the 2020 BUILDER Chōwa Concept Home, was designed to appeal to a new generation of buyers focused on spending their money in ethical ways, including sustainability. Everything in this home was sustainably sourced, with any waste becoming part of a recycling program. Chōwa, the Japanese philosophy of “the spirit of partnership and life balance,” is the perfect representation of WWYW’s goals.

During Design and Construction Week, Cooke had the opportunity to present two educational sessions with fellow industry experts. As part of the International Builders’ Show, Cooke presented a session titled Creating the Healthier Homes Your Customers Want at a Price They Can Afford. This session analyzed how builders in affordable, custom and production market segments achieved the right balance of sustainability, healthy practices and features to incorporate cost-effective systems to match the market’s expectations while also maintaining high-quality construction. Cooke’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Showcase session, Increase Profitability by Designing for Wellness, shared how to create kitchens and baths that are not only attractive and functional but that also promote wellness, resulting in a healthier (and safer) home for clients – and a healthier bottom line.

Cooke was also honored to be the presenter of the National Association of Home Builders’ Global Innovation Awards, which awards the most innovative projects, products and services disrupting the global residential building industry. She appeared at IBS Live and presented the exhibitor’s products that won the Global Innovation Award from the floor, which highlighted the most innovative international products being exhibited at this year’s show.

Finally, Cooke is proud to partner with Aprilaire, the new presenting sponsor for WWYW. Aprilaire provides healthy air products, such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air purifiers and more. Aprilaire recently entered into a new partnership with the American Lung Association. Aprilaire is the National Climb Partner for Healthy Air, which raises funds to support research, education and patient programs to help the millions of Americans impacted by asthma, COPD, lung cancer, air pollution and other lung diseases through stair-climbing adventures.
