Director of New Development with Walton Communities, Matthew Teague, is in the studio for today’s episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group discusses the brand-new apartment homes at Chattahoochee Riverside.
Teague is originally from Atlanta but left to attend Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he pursued a career in politics in Washington, D.C. for six years. After this, Teague returned home to Atlanta and started working for Walton Communities in the leasing department. As the economy picked up around 2010, Teague moved into the home office to help with new development and has been there ever since.
Walton Communities was founded in 1989 with the core mission of providing affordable housing. Since opening in the late 80s, its scope has expanded to encompass market-rate communities, as well as senior living. Currently, Walton Communities has about 30 communities across Georgia. Communities range in location from Midtown, Marietta and Acworth, all the way to Augusta and Gainesville.
Chattahoochee Riverside
Chattahoochee Riverside is one of Walton Communities’ newest apartment complexes, composed of 26 brand new apartment homes on the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The community offers 2,000 feet of riverfront views right outside the front door.
Located just inside the perimeter, this luxury apartment community is only minutes from the best Atlanta has to offer, including Midtown, Buckhead and The Battery Atlanta. “It is a generational property for sure,” said Teague. “It is truly special, and Walton is a little bit different than a lot of multi-family properties where we tend to own our properties for a very long time. This one in particular will always be in our family. It’s not somewhere where you’ll move into and then a few months later you’ll get a note on your doors saying ‘Hey, Walton is gone, we’ve been replaced.’ We are in the apartment business because we love people, and we love our residents. We just want to take care of people.”
