Angela Self, a building biologist and owner of Vital Spaces, joins host Todd Schnick on the All About Real Estate edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Angela has combined her passion for construction with healthy living at Vital Spaces. She is a licensed residential builder, a certified building biology environmental consultant and a electromagnetic radiation specialist with the International Institute of Building Biology and Ecology.
Angela explores the relations between both building and health; she takes the specific principles and applies them to create atmospheres that go beyond green to support human health. This means, clean air, clean water and minimal electromagnetic radiation. This is a more innovative approach to create a more optimized atmosphere.
Angela tells us how more people should be alerted to water treatment facilities. There are several heavy duty chemicals that are added to the water to disinfect it but it doesn’t purify it. All of the water coming into a building should be filtered; it is a wise and recommended idea to use a water filter. You have to be very careful when buying filtration systems though because there are good ones but also several bad ones as well. You should always look at the water you are dealing with first to ensure that it is filtered appropriately.
Vital Space is constantly working with home builders, architects and contractors to build new construction but they also do assessments on old systems as well. They do commercial such as senior living facilities as well.
