Monday’s “House of the Day” in the Wall Street Journal is a unique piece of Atlanta real estate. This home, built by an architect who studied under the famous Frank Lloyd Wright, was listed in June for $950,000, and is located directly adjacent to the popular Atlanta BeltLine.

The home was designed by architect Robert M. Green, who incorporated Wright’s ideas about bringing nature into the home, and it was built between 1959 and 1960. The two-story, three bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home features exterior redwood paneling and brick, as well as oak flooring and cedar and brick walls inside the home. The spacious kitchen and living area includes a wall of windows that overlook a flagstone patio and beautiful koi pond. Although the home was renovated in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was tastefully updated to fit the modern charms without losing the character of its original finishes.

According to Jason Wieloch, one of the co-agents listing the home, this house is the epitome of a mid-century modern plan and one of the most popular Robert Green works in Atlanta. One of Wieloch’s favorite aspects about the house, and one of the most unique features of the homes, is the fact that there is absolutely no sheetrock used in the house; the construction of the house consists entirely of brick and wood.

The house, which was originally purchased by owners Toby Merlin and Jim Little for $1.05 million in 2003, is located in the Collier Hills community at 1885 Walthall Drive.
