The city of Locust Grove is home to a unique sanctuary for injured, abused and abandoned animals of all kinds. Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that is home to more than 1,000 domestic, wild and exotic animals from more than 100 different species.
Located on 250 acres of land, this animal sanctuary is dedicated to bringing children and animals together, as well as promoting humane, responsible and informed animal treatment and ownership. The habitat is free and open to the public, providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for children and adults alike to get up-close and personal with many of the animals.
This amazing home for animals would not be possible without dedicated volunteers and support from the public. It costs $33,000 per month to feed, treat and care for the animals living there, and they could not do it without your help! In addition to everyday care, one of their biggest needs right now is a new habitat for Zuri, a white Bengal tiger. The habitat is expected to cost around $75,000 to complete because of Zuri’s special medical needs.
Noah’s Ark wants all of their neighbors to come and meet Zuri, as well as all of the other animals living at the sanctuary. Noah’s Ark is open Tuesday through Saturday, weather permitting. The welcome center, picnic area and office are open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the animal habitats are open from noon until 3:00 p.m. The animal sanctuary is located at 712 L.G. Griffin Road.
