At this year’s International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla., there seemed to be a few interesting trends. The annual show, hosted by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA), is where housing industry professionals gather to learn about new developments and network with others.

According to the executive vice president of the GAHBA, David Ellis, there were plenty of people excited about the future of the housing industry. He also said that homeowners have changed recently. Today, more and more buyers are looking for smaller homes in communities that are closer to work centers.

But perhaps the biggest change Ellis mentioned involves green building. Thousands of green products and services were shown at the 2011 IBS, showing that homebuyers are looking for ways to make their homes more energy-efficient.

For those looking for options in Atlanta, Ellis recommends an EarthCraft home, which follows a program designed to provide the best in energy-and-resource-efficient housing.
