Looking for something to do this weekend? Well you are in luck! This Sunday the Historic Oakland Foundation presents Sunday in the Park from noon – 6  p.m. on Sunday, October 3 at Oakland Cemetery.

This is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the fall weather and see some historic Atlanta real estate at the same time!

Sunday in the Park is a Victorian street festival offering fun and entertainment for all ages. The suggested donation is $5. Admission for children 3 and under is free.

In the midst of beautiful and unique surroundings, guests will enjoy a memorable afternoon of delicious food from Six Feet Under, The Varsity, Doc Chey’s, Pallookaville and more. Don’t miss Doug Lothes and his Farewell Atlanta performance of Gone With the Wind in Twenty Minutes. There will be an artists’ market, living history demonstrations, storytellers, Irish dancers and a variety of live musical entertainment (including The Serenaders, Hicks with Picks, The Roy Glenn Key Band, The Bow Weevils and The Atlanta Mandolin Quartet.) In addition, the Big Bethel Heaven Bound Choir will perform at SIP as part of their eightieth anniversary celebration.

Guests are encouraged to participate in the Victorian costume contest and photography contest. Carriage tours and free walking tours (with an opportunity to enter some of the magnificent mausoleums) will be offered. The children’s area will feature crafts, old-fashioned games and the Zoo Atlanta ZooMobile. Oakland’s traditional Teddy Bear Tea will entertain kids of all ages with storytelling by well-known Atlanta storyteller Cathy Kaemmerlen as Miss Sara DippaTea. The Bubbleman will also keep the kids amused in the children’s area.
