Atlanta Real Estate Forum congratulates Southland Development Services for winning a Gold OBIE in the Best Addition category for a custom home. Presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, the OBIE Awards are the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.

A family of four with a baby on the way were living in a very outdated two-bedroom home that they had far outgrown in a very sought-after area of downtown Atlanta. The original 1920s craftsman bungalow was buried beneath an unfortunate 1970s renovation and the home was easily one of the most unattractive homes in the otherwise beautiful neighborhood.

This project included a complete addition of a second floor, which gave the family two bedrooms, a large laundry and craft room, a bathroom, a living space and a play area with plans for a future additional bedroom and bath. Revamping the space on the main level to create a more livable and functional space for this growing family was also extremely important to them along with a complete transformation of the exterior of the house to take it back to the character of what it once was and brought it up to the standard of the neighborhood. Southland Development knew it was creating something truly special when neighbors would repeatedly stop and thank them for what they were doing to the home and accomplishing with their work. The home has most definitely been elevated to a new level.
