To celebrate summer’s arrival, the Lantern Parade will take place on Friday, May 13 as a pre-festival event to the Decatur Arts Festival. The parade march will start at Color Wheel Studio on Howard Avenue to the Downtown Decatur square.

Everyone is invited to bring his or her own lantern from home or join a lantern-making workshop preceding the event, and join the parade march. Chantelle Rytter will be hosting workshops at Color Wheel Studio starting April 28. Supplies and guidance are provided at the workshops for participants to create amazing lantern décor. From lantern hats and parasols to classic globe lanterns, it is always fun to see where your imagination takes you.

The masterpieces will be on display at the Lantern Parade on May 13. Line-up at Color Wheel Studio at 508 East Howard Ave. after 8 p.m. The parade march begins at 9 p.m. with The Black Sheep Ensemble and ends at Decatur Square for an after party.

This free event is open to everyone. Come one, come all!
