Morris and Raper Real Estate ConsultantsThis week, we had a chance to sit down with another one of our brokers, Christopher Russ, to talk with him about his career and the local market.

What is your real estate background? I purchased my first home in 2003 and became an investor of six rental properties in 2006. Being an investor wasn’t easy; it included the daily management of the properties, repairs, rent collection and anything else that came up. That experience gave me the desire to make real estate a daily part of my life. I have been a licensed agent since 2008, joined Morris and Raper Real Estate Consultants in 2009 and received my Associate Brokers license in 2012. I have a vested interest in the Sandy Springs, GA residential property market because I lived there for 12 years. I was even part of their 2009 graduating class of Leadership Sandy Springs.

Describe your experience working with Morris and Raper Real Estate Consultants. Morris and Raper Real Estate Consultants has been a great company to work for. The Turbo Tuesday agent meetings are both informative and fun; we get to hear from industry experts and caravan to multiple properties as a group. The support staff here are both knowledgeable and accessible. Each time I have a question, they are more than willing to help me dig deep to find answers. Finally, my peer agents are the best. They go out of their way to help look for answers such as social marketing, new financial regulations and how to handle unusual questions.

What do you love most about what you do? I love meeting new people and I have a passion for Information Technology. With the advent of social media and the new wave of mobile devices, it has allowed people to connect in a whole new way compared to 10 years ago. This is particularly beneficial because I’m now able to serve more people without having to spend as much time doing research, commuting or waiting. There are plenty of platforms out there that I can refer a potential client towards to educate them on the transaction process, what type of capital they will need and available services after the sale is complete.

In your opinion, what is the next up and coming Atlanta neighborhood to buy in? I have to admit that I’m partial to the city of Sandy Springs. What Mayor Gambalos has done for the residents and businesses is unparalleled elsewhere. Plus, it offers the flexibility of not being “too” far from the City of Atlanta and is in the prime location of the GA 400 Technology hub for businesses. Additionally, the taxes are not as steep as Cobb County because it is still part of Fulton County. The proximity of Perimeter Mall allows residents to have convenience to shopping and socializing.

What is your favorite thing to do or area to explore in Atlanta? Atlantic Station is one of the best ideas that I’ve seen come from Atlanta. It is its own city if you ask me. I really enjoy the retail shopping, exciting restaurants and move theater.  I also attend LA Fitness four times a week, which is one of the best gyms I’ve been to. The mix of people and culture that you see there is unlike any place I’ve been to before.
