Elegant Elf Marketplace Offers Unique Holiday Shopping Experience

On today’s Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick are celebrating six years of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio and are joined by Elizabeth Kelly, president of the Sandy Springs Society. Today, Kelly stops by to discuss their 7th Annual Sandy Springs Elegant Elf Marketplace, a holiday shopping event happening this weekend.

The Sandy Springs Society is a unique organization of 310 women who raise money for Sandy Springs charities by hosting events such as Elegant Elf and volunteering to make those events run smoothly. Before Sandy Springs became a city, the Sandy Springs Society was founded in 1988 because some of the local women foresaw that local groups of people would have a need for funds. The organizations include those hosting programs for the arts, education, heritage, environment and social services. In 2016 alone, the Society raised over $206,000 to distribute to 22 different Sandy Springs charities. Since its beginning, the Society has raised more than $3.5 million.

This weekend’s marketplace has the same goal. The Elegant Elf Marketplace began in 2011 and has continued to grow each year. In addition to raising money as a holiday-themed gift shopping event, the marketplace has been a great way for the organization’s Society funds, both large and small, to showcase themselves. The unique advantage that the Sandy Springs Society has is that they are able to fund more organizations that might not catch the attention of corporations.

This year’s marketplace has 85 featured vendors that offer very unique work. Chef Peter Kaiser of Kaiser Chophouse, as this year’s Honorary Chair, will also make an appearance and provide a demonstration of his culinary talents. Additionally, world-renowned artist and author Steve Penley will be making a special appearance and signing his most recently released illustrated book, Reagan and the American Ideal. Vendors will offer everything from handblown glass, paper goods, stationery, jewelry and leather goods to children’s products.

The Society encourages everyone who attends to take their time during their visit. Instead of stressing about the holiday season, guests can browse and enjoy their time, visit the Polar Express Cafe, enjoy the entertainment and experience craftsmanship that is not typically all in one place at a time.

The marketplace is open for shopping on Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Forest Elementary School. Offsite parking and shuttles will be available.
