Atlanta may have just survived days of storms, but the weekend is looking sunny and warm – perfect weather for local music and local brews. On today’s Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, Sarah Poland with Heritage Sandy Springs joins co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick to discuss this weekend’s Rhythm and Brews Festival.

Heritage Sandy Springs is a community non-profit founded over 30 years ago to help resurrect the area. Last year, in addition to their Sunday night concert series, the foundation sponsored an inaugural local music and craft brew event called Rhythm and Brews. Poland says she is looking forward to five Atlanta bands performing, in addition to more local breweries participating in the event’s second year.

Gates open at 1 p.m. on Saturday April 8, with music beginning at 1:15. Tickets entitle guests to a few complimentary drinks, unless they want to purchase a “rhythm” only ticket. Beers and ciders will also be available for purchase. Poland says that for every purchased drink, buyers will get an entry into the raffle “for swag we’re giving away during musical act breaks.”

Bands include Wrenn, The Georgia Flood and more. Headlining this year are Lakrin Poe, a pair of sisters that Poland says she’s “personally very excited about.” Entrants to the festival can sample brews from around the area, including Red Hare Brewing, Second Self Brewing Company and Urban Tree. Ciders from Urban Tree Cidery will be available as well, for those who want to try something different.

Poland expects to see people enjoying treats from local food trucks, especially the grilled cheese vendor and the BBQ joint. Several local artisans will offer their handmade products for sale, and people can play lawn games on the terraced grounds. VIP ticket holders will have access to a covered porch and indoor bathrooms, in addition to extra beverage tickets.

Tickets can be purchased online through midnight April 7, and at the door on Saturday. Children under 12 receive free admission with a paid adult. The event runs until 7 p.m. Listen to today’s segment to get more details on this event.
