Robert Bowden, Inc. (RBI) is well known for manufacturing and supplying windows, doors and millwork to professional builders and remodelers in Atlanta. They are also a Builders Club Rewards sponsor, and one of the reasons that Builders Club opened in Atlanta. Their sponsorship and participation has allowed builders and remodelers to connect through the program and earn fantastic rewards. We invite you to take an insiders look at what sets Robert Bowden, Inc. apart from their competition.
Historic Kennesaw Mountain is famous for a battle that occurred on June 27, 1864 between Union forces led by General William Tecumseh Sherman and the Confederate forces of General Joseph Johnston. Robert Bowden, Inc. was founded exactly 119 years later, and is headquartered about a quarter of a mile from where that battle occurred.
On June 27, 2013, the Robert Bowden team will celebrate a milestone that few companies ever attain–30 years of successful business operation. Just like the forces that waged a fierce battle in 1864 on Kennesaw Mountain, RBI has spent the last 30 years committed to their purpose against formidable odds. Over the course of those years there have been economic downturns, fierce national competition from large chain operators and all of the normal perils. Through all of that, a dedication to serving the customer with urgency has been the rallying cry, or you might say the “rebel yell” of the Bowden troops.
The company’s humble roots can be traced back to a 20,000 square foot leased facility, a couple of trucks and a strong commitment to survive and prosper in a most difficult industry. Today, the company operates a fleet of more than 100 trucks dispatched from three locations: Marietta, Duluth and McDonough. The branch locations are supported by the manufacturing, fabrication and transfer operations that are headquartered in Marietta. State-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution give a tremendous competitive advantage to RBI.
The company’s sales force and operations are organized around the individual needs of the different customer segments. They even have a department, Home Improvement Resources (HIR), that offers turn-key solutions focused on the specific needs of an owner occupied home. You don’t have to accept a “one size fits all” strategy from RBI.
One visit to Robert Bowden, Inc. is enough to tip you off that something might be different. The energy level is high and everyone seems to move briskly through the large facilities. A closer look will give you proof positive that they are different. Their employees are also owners of the company and they act like it. It’s not very hard to get a hold of the owner at RBI; he’ll be making your next delivery.
RBI has been included in Georgia Trend magazine’s list of best places to work. Their senior management team averages over 20 years with the company and the average employee has worked at RBI for more than nine years. That experience and consistency is something that Robert Bowden customers have come to enjoy.
I hope you will join us in congratulating RBI on 30 great years, and thank them for their service to the community, the industry and Builders Club.
