PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program and Operation FINALLY HOME held the groundbreaking for U.S. Army Sgt. Perry Haley’s new home last week at Barrington, a Pulte Homes community in Sugar Hill. The family was greeted at their new home site by a large crowd of well-wishers who were on hand to say thank you to Sgt. Haley and his family for the sacrifices they have made for our country.

“We are honored to take part in the design and construction of Sgt. Haley’s new home. He’s a true American hero, and he and his family deserve a permanent place to call home,” said Stephen Haines, vice president of sales for PulteGroup’s Georgia operations. “Haley is a testament to courage, tenacity and valor, and we hope this home will ease his struggles and provide him with security and peace of mind as they raise their beautiful children.”

On Wednesday, March 12, Sgt. Haley, his wife, Autumn, and their three daughters were able to personally break ground at the site of their new mortgage-free home in roughly the spot where their living room will soon be located. The family will receive the Mercer, a 2,600-plus square foot home that will offer four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, a screened lanai, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, a loft space for the kids and much more.

The home is being constructed through PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program in conjunction with Operation FINALLY HOME, a 501(c)(3) organization that honors wounded, ill and injured veterans and windows of fallen soldiers with new, custom-built and mortgage-free homes. Thanks to the generosity and participation of Pulte’s contractors, vendors and trade partners, when the family moves into their new home this summer, it will be completely mortgage-free.

“We are grateful for builders like Pulte Homes who allow us to deliver on our mission to provide mortgage-free homes for wounded veterans and widows of the fallen,” said Rusty Carroll, executive director of Operation FINALLY HOME.

On Wednesday, April 9, Pulte Homes and Built to Honor will be hosting the Notes of Love event at the home. Everyone is invited to visit the home site and write special notes to the family on the studs before the drywall goes up. This is a great way to add a personal touch to the home from supporters that will remain within the walls of the home, and with the family, forever.
