Full-service design firm The Interior Partners recently decorated the model home at Milton Run, a new Milton community from Patrick Malloy Communities. This upscale, modern farmhouse displays just the perfect balance of farmhouse chic and modern elegance. The main goal in this project was to bring the exterior feel of the outside, inside to create an interior that is luxurious yet comfortable.
Light colored walls can be seen throughout the home. Using lighter-colored paint not only made the rooms feel open and airy, but they also allowed the designers to showcase the custom wood details and trim work of the walls. Dark built-ins, such as the arched bookshelves in the family room and the under-the-stairs bookcase by the kitchen, popped against the light-colored walls and created a unique focal point for the room.
The owner’s suite features showcased reclaimed wood in the accent wall and ceiling beams that created a cozy, rustic feel. Using the reclaimed wood in this space rather than paint sets the owner’s suite apart as a special area of the home. The velvet, upholstered bed and headboard, along with the bedspread and decorative pillows, add a bit of elegance that exemplifies the upscale farmhouse look.
Lighting and oversized light fixtures played an integral part in the design of the home and can be seen in nearly every room, even the office, downstairs hallway and owner’s closet. Light fixtures, especially oversized ones add artistic, visual interest. These large, spherical light fixtures above the dining room table are modern yet elegant. The oversized aspect of the fixtures creates a statement and adds a bit of drama to the room.
