The National Association of Home Builders’ Professional Women in Building invite you to join them in celebrating PWB Week! This exciting week, held September 17 – 21 this year, is an opportunity for members from across the country to bring awareness to the vital contributions of the many talented women in the residential construction industry with activities that promote, enhance and support housing and those women.
The overarching theme for this year’s PWB Wee, sponsored by 84 Lumber, is workforce development. Everyone involved in the building industry has been affected by the current skilled labor shortage – nine out of 10 contractors in the U.S. reported a scarcity of skilled labor, according to the 2018 Q2 Commercial Construction Index.
One of PWB Week’s event, a webcast taking place Wednesday, September 19 at 10 a.m. EDT, will address workforce development. Renee Jones, Sr. Regional Diversity Director, SE of Skanska USA Building, and Kelly Monroe, VP of Business Development also from Skanska, will discuss diversifying the industry’s workforce to address the labor shortage. Mark your calendars now for this event and stay tuned for the registration link!
Throughout the week, NAHBNow.com, the official blog of NAHB, will highlight exclusive stories about women in building, and it will focus on the five subthemes:
- Women in remodeling
- Throwback Thursday: A Day of Giving
- Free resources and networking
