Morris and Raper Real Estate ConsultantsThis week, Morris and Raper Real Estate Consultants caught up with one of our general brokers, Jerilyn Lewis, who shares advice for both homebuyers and home sellers.

Jerilyn explains that there are a few preliminary steps you need to take when beginning the home-buying process. One of the first and most important steps is getting pre-qualified with a lender and making sure you have cash on hand for down payments and closing costs. Buyers also need to realize that there are more costs associated with a home than just the purchase price; you will need to consider maintenance, repairs, taxes and insurance as well. One of the biggest ways homebuyers can educate themselves on the condition of their home is to have a home inspection prior to closing.

On the flip side, if you’re selling a home, you need to have realistic expectations when it comes to your home’s value. “You don’t want to hit the market significantly overpriced and have the home sit on the market. Make sure you look at the comparable sales and listings to price your home accordingly,” said Jerilyn.

Both buyers and sellers should visit Jerilyn at Symphony Homes’ newest community, Mountain Park in Kennesaw. Buyers of all lifestyles will enjoy the six floor plan offerings that include large wooded lots, basement homesites and master on the main options. Currently, there is one completed home and more will be under construction in 2013.
