On Jan. 6, 2015 Mercedes-Benz USA announced that it will relocate its headquarters to Atlanta. Offering positions in distribution, marketing and customer relations, the Mercedes-Benz USA headquarters is anticipated to create at least 800 jobs for local residents.

Mercedes-Benz USA President and CEO Stephen Cannon expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming transition, stating that he is eager to establish a permanent property for the headquarters in the Atlanta area. Cannon says that the company is placing a “50-year bet” on Atlanta, which has become a prosperous location for the automotive sector.

Currently located in Montvale, New Jersey, the headquarters is anticipated to be located in the northern Atlanta suburbs. Although the exact address of the headquarters is currently undetermined, both Sandy Springs and Alpharetta have been speculated as possible sites, and workers will begin moving into a temporary facility this summer. Cannon added that a close proximity to GA400 would provide convenient access to both northern and central Atlanta, as well as to the local “Gen-Y” workforce.

With its internationally recognized brand name and superior reputation, Mercedes-Benz USA is expected to contribute significantly to Georgia’s automotive industry, which plays an important role in the state’s economy. The headquarters will invest approximately $74 million in the Atlanta area, which has become a thriving center for automotive technologies such as the GM Innovation Center and the AT&T Driving Studio. Additionally, Atlanta is also the location of Porsche’s U.S. headquarters near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
