The Womack Custom Homes team recently completed a total historic renovation on CFO Matt Womack’s personal home. Originally built in 1931, the English Tudor-style home got a major facelift to bring it into the 21st century.

Located in Cartersville, the Womack team stripped this historical home down to its bones (its framing structure) to repair any rot and update all mechanical, electrical and plumbing with modern systems. Additionally, the home underwent an impressive expansion with a new extended upper level.

Initially, the home featured 2,400 square feet of living space with three bedrooms and two baths. The updated design now boasts 4,200 square feet of impressive living space with four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and a new upper level off the rear of the home, extending the home’s overall footprint roughly 20 feet.

Though the home now features an updated layout and stylish design features, when it comes to historic homes, it is important that elements of the home’s historic integrity remain. From the detailed wainscoting and judges paneling to the elegant fixtures and sophisticated fireplaces, this home exudes vintage elegance with a gold filigree color scheme and décor throughout.

Perfect for entertaining guests, the cozy parlor features stunning wall paneling with detailed wainscoting, a painted brick fireplace with elegant mantle and gleaming hardwood floors all perfectly accented by emerald, green velvet couches and contrasting blue accents. Entertainment options continue into the formal dining room with vintage-style chandelier, intricate judges paneling and buffet table.

From there, the dining room leads into the gourmet kitchen via the butler’s pantry complete with wet bar. The gourmet kitchen underwent the most jaw-dropping transformation with plenty of counterspace for prepping and cabinet space for storage. The paneled fridge and dishwasher offer a seamless cabinet aesthetic while the expansive island boasts a farmhouse sink and room for seating.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a cozy breakfast area with built-in bench seating and dramatic exposed wood ceiling beams leading to the casual family room with antique twisted wood chandelier, plenty of plush seating surrounding the fireplace with wood moulding surround and access to the geometrically detailed stair rail.

The luxurious owner’s suite with sitting area features a spacious walk-in closet with orb chandelier, central island and built-in shelving. The expansive spa-inspired bath boasts a geometric gold chandelier, paneled mirrors, a freestanding soaking tub, massive walk-in shower and dual vanity separated by a makeup station.
