Chris Laumer-Giddens, a principal with LG Squared, is in studio for today’s episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, Laumer-Giddens discusses his background, how he became involved with LG Squared, the types of products and services available and more on today’s All About Real Estate segment of Radio.
Laumer-Giddens knew he wanted to be an architect since kindergarten. This dream only intensified as he grew older and began working with his dad who worked in the building industry. Laumer-Giddens’ father introduced him to building techniques and alternative, ecofriendly materials. His father also introduced him to a “belt and suspenders” approach to the company, meaning if there are two different ways to approach a task, they do both. Laumer-Giddens earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental design with a focus on architecture at the University of Colorado Boulder, a master’s in architecture from the University of Colorado Denver and a certificate of historical preservation at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. In 2010, Laumer-Giddens joined his wife’s company and has been there ever since.
LG Squared started in 2006 in Tampa, Fla. It is a one-stop-shop company including architecture, construction, interior design and building science consulting agency. Known for a high-performance product, LG Squared focuses on healthy living, clean homes and ecofriendly green building. “Our first step, before we even talk or think about solar power, is to put our time and money into the building enclosure,” said Laumer-Giddens. “We make sure its using as little energy as possible and monitor how much energy someone uses over a year or two.”
