Kolter Homes Wins Gold OBIE in Best Interior Merchandising Category

Atlanta Real Estate Forum congratulates Kolter Homes for winning a Gold OBIE in the Best Interior Merchandising – Detached Models $200,000 to $299,999 category for Cresswind in Peachtree City. Presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, the OBIE Awards are the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.

The Dogwood, which is part of the Aberdeen Collection, was designed for the active adult who wants more from every aspect of life. This gorgeously appointed home in a cottage chic style presents fun pops of orange throughout for a unified, eye-catching color palette.

Director of Design for Design Environments, Inc., Julie McKinney explained that before her team began the interior design, they established a story for an imaginary couple living in the home.

“Martin and Shelley moved to Peachtree City where their son lives with his family. Although Shelley is a retired travel agent and Martin a retired businessperson, they both love to travel for fun and are very excited about their 20-minute commute to Hartsfield-Jackson airport. We felt that chrome furniture mixed with dark woods with vibrant pops of orange blended with white and ivory made this model stand out on its own.”

Taking a tour of the home, visitors will be inclined to agree. Stepping across the threshold from the covered entry, a study or third bedroom is off the front hall. This flexible space has French doors to conceal or reveal the room. The foyer adjoining this room also connects to the great room that shows the character of the floor plan. The extra-tall doorframes and high ceilings make the rooms feel even bigger, and as everything flows from this central room, the plan has a cohesive, organized, functional feel.

Beyond the great room, a formal dining room and kitchen with granite, eat-at island showcase the home’s livability. For residents who like to cook and entertain, the Dogwood offers ample space. The eye sweeps beyond the interior to a covered and screened porch that provides three seasons of living space. With a window to the kitchen, glass doors and a door to the yard, residents can enjoy quiet morning coffee in privacy, or allow overflow guest traffic to spill out onto the porch.

The great room also leads to the owner’s suite and additional bedroom. The owner’s suite has coffered ceilings, French doors to the bath and a glass-door shower. His and hers granite vanities and a spacious walk-in closet allow residents to relax in a spa-like retreat.

Upstairs, the bonus room is finished to showcase how active adults might entertain grandkids or themselves. An orange accent wall, metal marquis letters and a big-screen TV make a bold statement for this media room that also provides a bath and closet, so it can easily function as an additional bedroom.

This home is playfully designed, but packs a powerful, functional flow that balances work and play with a sense of fun. The Dogwood’s interior merchandising allows prospective buyers to imagine a life of beautiful convenience. From the color scheme in soothing grey tones with modern pops of orange to the richly upholstered furniture, the Dogwood entices. The designers worked closely with the builder to showcase both the features of the home and the endless possibilities in an active adult community.
