The Historic Athens Porchfest is back for another season and is bringing the City of Athens creative and unique aspects directly from its residents’ front porches! With 150 porches and over 155 concerts across six historic neighborhoods participating this season, you don’t want to miss this exciting event. Featured as one of the “12 Best Places to Travel in October 2022” by Travel + Leisure, the Historic Athens Porchfest is free to the public.

If there is one thing the City of Athens knows how to do, it’s cheer on the University of Georgia (UGA) Bulldogs! The most popular event of the fall season in Athens, this year’s UGA Homecoming Week anticipates being the best yet! UGA is going all out for the 100-year celebration.
With festivities scheduled all week to celebrate the most significant UGA occasion of the season, visitors can cheer on the Dawgs with students, alumni, local businesses and more for the Homecoming Parade! On the day of the parade, please be aware that road closures will start at 4 p.m. the day of the event for the benefit of the organizers.

With the sweltering hot and humid summer days ending, there’s no better time to start your fitness journey by participating in the first 2022 Lovejoy Halloween Costume Fun Run! This traditional event with a fun, themed twist encourages attendees to wear their best costumes.
To support the education system and community, Lovejoy High School Athletic Department will receive 50% of the proceeds courtesy of the City of Lovejoy! As a family-friendly event, you can bring your entire family to walk or run and enjoy delicious treats.
To ensure safety among all event attendees, Lovejoy Police Department will monitor the streets. All participants should arrive by 7:15 a.m. to check-in. Any runners or walkers that come late will not be allowed to participate in the event. All participants that register by October 27 will receive a free completion medal and Lovejoy gift bag! Expect a $20 penalty fee for all car registrations on the day of the 2022 Lovejoy Halloween Costume Fun Run.

The Georgia State Fair is back from September 30 to October 9! This event is an autumn staple with prizes, fair foods, exciting rides, and more. Enjoy special festivities such as a petting zoo, the Freakshow Deluxe, a white tiger display, an aquatic acrobatic show, pig races and so much more!
To avoid long queues, attendees should purchase tickets ahead of time. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages five through 12 and free for children four years and younger. Military discounts are available upon request.
