Kerry White with Rocklyn Homes Wins Sales Manager of the Year

Atlanta Real Estate Forum congratulates Kerry White with Rocklyn Homes for winning Sales Manager of the Year at the 2017 OBIE Awards. Presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, the OBIE Awards are the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.

One day last spring, a woman struck up a conversation with Kerry White as both were exiting the grocery store. When she learned that Kerry was in real estate the woman had lots of questions. They stood and talked outside the store for quite some time. The woman took Kerry’s card and soon after called to say she’d been inspired by her to start a career in the industry. This was by no means the first time Kerry has motivated others, including a number of clients, to pursue their dreams. “God gives us ministries and God gives us careers. In my case, they are one in the same,” explains Kerry.

“God gives us ministries and God gives us careers. In my case, they are one in the same,” explains Kerry.

Kerry joined Rocklyn Homes in 2012 as a Community Sales Manager, bringing skill, intelligence and irrepressible passion to the organization. She soared past benchmarks, selling out multiple communities before being promoted to Rocklyn Homes Corporate Sales Manager in July 2015. That same year she was named Sales Manager of the Year by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.

As an active member of the Sales and Marketing Council, she currently oversees a staff of 23, plus two interior design consultants, working in 17 communities. Kerry also managed to complete her degree in marketing from Georgia State this year, and now proudly adds college graduate to her list of accomplishments. Kerry treats her agents like buyers, working to understand their needs and meet them.

“When I was in their position. I didn’t want to choose between career and family,” said Kerry. “I wanted an environment where I could grow and where my thoughts mattered.”

To that end, Kerry introduced a plan to replace community hostesses with four-day incentivized assistants who help out on weekends and fill in when Community Sales Managers are on vacation. Initially wary, company owners embraced the innovative idea once they saw a significant spike in contracts within a month. Because agents no longer have to pay for vacation coverage, they are free to take time off with family. Assistants love the new structure, as it is a stepping stone to Community Sales Manager status.

Motivated by her example and inspired by her success, Kerry’s husband, son, sister and step-father have all joined the Rocklyn Homes family.

Kerry White should be selected as Sales Manager of the Year because her inspiring work ethic and leadership have had a remarkable impact on the company and on the ability of agents to succeed. In 2016, Kerry supervised communities that recorded a company record of more than $143 million in sales, representing 663 new homes sold, 78 percent of sellable inventory. Her contributions have helped Rocklyn Homes reach the top 10 on the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Top 25 Homebuilders” list for two years in a row.

Kerry is a mentor who cares about the wellbeing of her team as much as she cares about their success. Morale is sky-high, turnover is negligible and she receives five-to-10 resumes every week.

“I teach agents that it’s not so much about selling a product, as about communicating with buyers,” said Kerry.
