Independence Day is here, and there are many ways to celebrate around metro Atlanta! There are multiple family-friendly events that can be found all over town, including these celebrations near many of the new communities from Monte Hewett Homes.
The Fourteenth Annual July Fourth Fireworks Extravaganza, held at Roswell High School, will start with carnival games at 5:30 p.m., and food will be available from Shane’s Rib Shack throughout the evening. Big Biscuit will be performing at 6:00 p.m., followed by Banks & Shane at 7:30 p.m. with the fireworks show at dark. Located nearby is the new community of Heatherton, which offers single family homes starting in the high $300,000s and new courtyard homes starting soon.
The city of Decatur invites residents to dress in red, white and blue for their annual Pied Piper Parade. The parade, which kicks off the Decatur Square Fourth of July Celebration, begins at the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 6:00 p.m. Once the parade ends at the Community Bandstand on the square, there will be a presentation of the colors and the Star Spangled Banner. The Callanwolde Concert Band will begin at 7:00 p.m., and will continue until the grand finale fireworks show at dark. Residents of our new community, Park Overlook, will be able to experience the festivities up close and personal, as the neighborhood is less than two miles away.
The city of Marietta will be hosting their annual Fourth in the Park celebration, held on the Marietta Square and in Glover Park. The festivities include a parade, free live concerts, museum tours, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and fireworks finale. The Marietta Freedom Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church, and when it ends, the festival begins! There will be live music by Scott Thompson at noon and Greg Bates at 8:00 p.m. with the fireworks beginning at dark.
Residents looking for a new home in the area should be sure to visit West Village, a live, shop, play community in Smyrna/Vinings that features three and four bedroom three-story townhomes. This pedestrian-friendly community is located just minutes from the Smyrna Market Village and the Village Green, as well as nearby Marietta.
For those residents who miss out on the Fourth of July celebrations, the Smyrna Birthday Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 3 as part of the Summer Concert Series on the Village Green. Smokey’s Farmland Band will open the show at 6:00 p.m., and the crowd-favorite, Banks & Shane, will play next. There will be festival foods, birthday festivities, a giant birthday cake from McEntyre’s Bakery and a kids entertainment area. The night’s festivities will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show at dark.
