Hadyn Hilton, Java Cats Café owner, joins host Todd Schnick and co host Carol Morgan for this week’s Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio edition of Around Atlanta.

Hadyn is in the process of opening Atlanta’s first ever cat café, an idea she said came to her while she was studying online cat videos while in film school at Georgia State University.

Once she had the idea, Hadyn created a kickstater campaign and raised over $20,000 to bring this idea to life. Once it opens, Java Cats will allow guests to come in and spend an hour or two with several adoptable cats all while enjoying a cup of coffee or even a boxed lunch created by The Gathering.
Hadyn has partnered with PAWS Atlanta, the oldest no –kill animal shelter in Georgia to bring in up to 20 adoptable cats to the café. These cats will be all types and ages and it will be good for them to be in an environment where people can see their unique personalities and maybe adopt them.

Because of the nature of having animals in a restaurant, measures are being taken to ensure all health code requirements are being met. For example, the café must have a wall between the cat lounge and the area where food is served. Also employees who work in the cat lounge will not be allowed to work in the café on the same day.

Hadyn is still looking for a place in Atlanta to open her café but she is hopeful that it will be up and running by the fall. So be sure and look out for Atlanta’s first cat café, Java Cats.
