Many people in Atlanta and abroad might have an adverse reaction to the idea of hotels and fine dining, but this preconceived notion is exactly what many hotel restaurants are looking to wipe off the table this week. For those unaware, the first annual Hotel Restaurant Week (HRW) is underway. During this week-long event, diners can make a reservation at several hotels from across Atlanta – Midtown, Downtown and Buckhead – and enjoy a three-course meal for just $25 plus tip and tax.

HRW is the brain-child of Robert Gerstenecker, executive chef of the Park 75 restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. The event was designed to open the eyes of Atlantans and allow them to see some often overlooked dining options.

“There are a lot of stereotypes about hotel dining,” Gerstenecker says. “Some people think we’re stuffy, that we play it safe with the menu, that it somehow takes more effort to come here for dinner than to go to a freestanding restaurant. They trust us for weddings and large functions, but they don’t consider us a local restaurant where they can have a great meal any night of the week.”
