Group with HomeAid Banner

Just a few short weeks ago, members of Brand Vaughan Lumber Company and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s North Fulton Chapter joined HomeAid Atlanta for a Care Day at HomeStretch in Roswell.

HomeAid Care Days are “done in a day” service projects that deliver free-of-charge maintenance and repairs for nonprofit organizations that provide services to metro Atlanta’s homeless and at-risk population. This Care Day at HomeStretch was the sixth of its kind at the facility completed by HomeAid Atlanta. HomeAid has also completed five major renovation projects at HomeStrech.

“HomeAid Atlanta has consistently supported projects at HomeStretch, which have added to our capacity to serve working homeless families guiding them towards permanent housing and lasting stability. We appreciate the generosity,” said Carol Swan, HomeStretch Program Director.

The most recent Care Day workday consisted of work in and around several of the facility’s apartments, with volunteers pulling up sections of the rotten sub-flooring in one apartment, pulling up carpeting and tack strips in another, and painted yet another. Two sets of exterior handicap ramps were stained, while others completed light gardening tasks.

The work done during the Care Day allows HomeStretch to put all of its focus on its mission of guiding homeless families toward finding permanent housing and lasting stability. For more information on the work done for homeless families at HomeStretch, visit www.HomeStretch.org.
