HomeAid Atlanta is excited to participate in Giving Tuesday Now. This global day of giving is set to take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. What started as an emergency response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic has become a worldwide opportunity for support and unity.
HomeAid Atlanta, a nonprofit organization created to build and renovate dignified housing and related facilities for families and individuals struggling with homelessness in metro Atlanta, is one of many supporters of Giving Tuesday Now. Because the current crisis has created even more housing instability for citizens in need, HomeAid Atlanta understands the increased necessity to give back and help the community.
“The Giving Tuesday Now campaign comes at a time when the world is full of anxiety and bad news,” HomeAid Atlanta Executive Director Mandy Crater said. “We want to be a part of this event to spread gratitude and positivity and highlight those who have contributed to our work going all the way back to the foundation of HomeAid Atlanta in 2001.”
During an otherwise sad and concerning time, Giving Tuesday Now aims to help everyone stay positive and continue to do good in the world. With a goal of driving support, donations and awareness to nonprofit organizations around the world, Giving Tuesday Now is designed to create a sense of unity between charitable organizations and the public.
“These donors and supporters are our foundation and Giving Tuesday Now is the perfect opportunity for us to support one another,” said Crater. “Our mission is to build new lives for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. In this time of crisis, we are all building towards a new tomorrow, and our work is more important than ever due to the economic devastation caused by COVID19.”
HomeAid Atlanta will not only be participating in this global day of giving but also asks that everyone who is willing and able to reach out with their support as well. HomeAid Atlanta recognizes the ample support and generosity given by its many supporters and knows they are going to be ready to help in this cause as well.
To help garner support and showcase the individuals and companies who reach out to nonprofit organizations during Giving Tuesday Now, HomeAid plans to host a weeklong virtual event. Seven Days of Gratitude is a way for HomeAid Atlanta to highlight donors and volunteers who stepped up during Giving Tuesday Now. People who participate will be featured on HomeAid Atlanta’s social media channels with photos, videos and stories.
“On May 5, 2020, please take a minute to donate and encourage others to help build for HomeAid’s tomorrow so that we can continue our work to build the way home for the thousands of people experiencing homelessness in metro Atlanta,” said Crater. “Every act of kindness is a beacon of hope in this crisis.”
