HomeAid Atlanta hosted another successful HomeAid Care Day with the assistance of Overhead Door Company of Atlanta! Held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, the group of volunteers assisted Christian City, a non-profit organization serving homeless families, children, the aged and infirm in Union City.
This was HomeAid Atlanta’s first partnership with Christian City and its fourth time working with Overhead Door Co., HomeAid’s Volunteer Group of the Year in 2012. 16 employees volunteered to work at this year’s Care Day. Together, they accomplished a wide variety of tasks, including planting five flower beds, installing a slate walkway, building a wood fence to provide private storage space and landscaping and pressure washing a cottage location that will be used to house people living with disabilities.
“HomeAid Atlanta has had the fortune of working with Overhead Door Company of Atlanta’s volunteers on four HomeAid Care Days,” said Jean Hilyard, HomeAid Atlanta’s executive director. “They bring a group of skilled, hard-working employees who truly care about giving back to others in the community. We are extremely fortunate to have a volunteer partner in Overhead Door Company of Atlanta and we look forward to working together again next year.”
In addition to the volunteer efforts of Overhead Door Co., Lowes donated some of the building materials for the fence.
