HomeAid Atlanta recently announced the recipients of its ninth annual awards during the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s (GAHBA) Installation and Awards Program. Held Jan. 14, 2015 at Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina, awards were presented for Builder of the Year, Trade Partner of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
The HomeAid Atlanta awards honor organizations and individuals who have demonstrated great commitment to the organization and its mission, which is to build new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.
As the 2014 Builder of the Year, Vincent Longo with Vincent Longo Custom Builders was honored for his time serving as the Builder Captain for a major renovation project at The Drake House in Roswell. In addition, Vincent Longo is an active member of the GAHBA and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
ProBuild, the nation’s largest supplier of building materials for homebuilding, was named the 2014 Trade Partner of the year. Since 2008, ProBuild has made many in-kind donations to shelter projects, and the company has also been a corporate sponsor. In 2014, the company provided donations for the construction of a six-story apartment building at Rainbow Village in Duluth, as well as materials for The Drake House project. ProBuild also donates to many other chapters throughout the nation, and the company is represented on the national HomeAid America board.
The 2014 Volunteer of the Year award was presented to State Bank & Trust Company, a longtime HomeAid Atlanta supporter. The company was the largest donor to the 2014 Essentials for Young Lives Drive, as volunteers held collections at seven Atlanta locations, gave generously of their time and resources, and continued their unique annual contest for best decorated Essentials display. The bank also helped sponsor the first-ever Essentials Celebration, and a company employee volunteered on the Essentials committee for the seventh year in a row. Employees also assisted with the Housing the Homeless Golf Tournament and Appreciation Lunch. Finally, Dale McCain-Boyd of State Bank was the HomeAid Atlanta board president in 2014.
“HomeAid Atlanta is pleased to have the opportunity to honor State Bank & Trust Company, ProBuild, and Vincent Longo for their exceptional efforts to make a difference in the lives of Atlanta’s temporarily homeless families and individuals,” said Alec Rickenbaker, HomeAid board president.
Each award recipient has shown their passion for HomeAid Atlanta’s mission and is committed to improving Atlanta’s homeless crisis. For more information on HomeAid Atlanta, visit www.HomeAidAtlanta.org.
