HomeAid Atlanta is pleased to announce that it recently assembled and donated 500 HomeAid CareKits in partnership with Bank of America. These CareKits, which were the first-ever donated by the Atlanta chapter of HomeAid, are essentially hygiene kits for homeless or indigent people in Atlanta.

On July 31, 14 employees from Bank of America volunteered their time to assemble the kits. The CareKits included a variety of self-care items, such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, granola bars and more. These first 500 CareKits were donated to Intown Collaborative Ministries’ Emergency Needs Food Pantry, which is located at Druid Hills United Methodist Church at the corner of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Briarcliff Road in Atlanta.

Bank of America is a national supporter of HomeAid America and its chapters, and thanks to the company’s donations, several HomeAid chapters had the chance to partner with local Bank of America employees to create CareKits.

“Thank you to Bank of America, a long‐term supporter of HomeAid, for its continued support. Each time HomeAid Atlanta partners with Bank of America’s volunteers, we accomplish a great deal and have a wonderful time in the process,” said Jean Hilyard, HomeAid Atlanta’s executive director. “Though these CareKits are not a solution to a homeless person’s housing concerns, we hope that they will provide the recipients with some relief. When Intown Collaborative Ministries put out a request for this type of kit, we were in the planning phase of starting this program. With Bank of America’s support, we were able to provide the food pantry, which is open on Saturday mornings at Druid Hills UMC, with these much needed items.”
